Max Gladstone biography

Max Gladstone is a prominent American speculative fiction author known for blending high fantasy with modern legal and financial structures. Born in 1984, he rose to acclaim with his debut novel, "Three Parts Dead" (2012), which launched the "Craft Sequence." This series reimagines magic as a form of celestial law and venture capital, set in a post-industrial world where gods are traded like commodities.

Gladstone is also widely celebrated for the 2019 novella "This Is How You Lose the Time War," co-authored with Amal El-Mohtar. This epistolary work earned him the Hugo, Nebula, and Locus Awards. His recent projects include the "Craft Wars" trilogy, which concluded in 2025 with the release of "Dead Hand Rule."
